The famous biscuit, to enjoy in a cupcake version!
Oreo cupcakes recipe - Lilie Bakery

A recipe from Oreo Cupcakes surprising with its hidden biscuit heart! A chocolate cake base, topped with a creamy vanilla icing like whipped cream... Easy to prepare and terribly delicious, you'll love them!

If you like them Oreo cookies, then this Oreo cupcake recipe should please you. It's really simple to do. In terms of equipment, you need cupcake boxes and a muffin tin to bake them. You will also need a pastry bag if you want to make a decoration like in my photos.

What ingredients do you need for this Oreo cupcake recipe?

For chocolate cupcake base, you need the same ingredients as a classic cake: flour, egg, sugar, bitter cocoa, yeast and bicarbonate, milk, oil, vanilla, salt. For a very soft result, I add a little hot water. You also need Oreo cookies that we will hide inside, and spread to stick them 2 to 2.

Regarding creamy frosting, this is a vanilla mascarpone whipped cream to which I added a touch of dark chocolate. To make this icing you will only need 5 ingredients: mascarpone, liquid cream, vanilla, icing sugar, dark chocolate.

How to make Oreo cupcakes?

To prepare these cupcakes it is very simple. We start with the chocolate cake base so that it can cool before decorating. To do this, mix the dry ingredients together, then add the liquid ingredients, finishing with the hot water. Don't worry if it's liquid, that's normal.

On glue the Oreos in pairs with a little spread and then place them in the bottom of the cases placed in the muffin mold. Then pour the dough on top up to 2/3 of the height to avoid any overflow. Put in the oven, then leave to cool on a rack.

To prepare the icing, it's also very simple. Whip the cream with the icing sugar and then add the previously softened mascarpone and the vanilla. As usual for my recipes, I invite you to adjust the amount of sugar as you like, to have a result you like.

Finally, all that's left to do is decorate! Prepare the piping bag by adding a fluted tip, the 2D socket for me. We melt the dark chocolate and we tablecloth inside the pocket of this chocolate before adding the icing. This way, the icing that comes out will have chocolate highlights! This is optional, you can completely decorate the cupcakes with the icing without chocolate. We add half an Oreo on each cupcake, and they are ready to be enjoyed...

Creamy icing
  • Relax the mascarpone with the liquid vanilla. Beat the whole liquid cream into a firm whipped cream, adding the icing sugar. Incorporate this whipped cream into the mascarpone and mix well.

  • Add half an Oreo on each cupcake to decorate.
Notes
Best kept in the refrigerator (because of the whipped cream icing).

  17. So I was inspired by your idea of putting an Oreo at the bottom of my cupcake tin (and yes, two didn't fit! lol!) and then I totally innovated (which had never happened to me before, too afraid of making a mistake) so I made a rather vanilla cupcake base and a bigout icing (yes, like the malabars! lol)! Thank you for inspiring me (it was very popular) ;)

  23. Thank you for that great recipe!! Only I put only 1 oreo per cupcake (I didn't have enough!) And it went up to the top of the cupcake? Any idea why or how ??
    The thank you box
PS: your blog is awesome! I hesitated on the cake I'm going to bake for my son's 3rd birthday, but I have a choice !!
    merciiii

    1. Hello Nael, oh wow, your Oreo wanted to be smart and escape from the box? That never happened to me, that's surprising! Happy baking for your son's birthday and see you soon!

      1. Stephanie

Cc I think it was too light just one oreo. With two you wouldn't have had this problem. Have a nice day

  24. A superb recipe that should make my colleagues happy this week. On the other hand, a small question: can the icing be made the day before and kept in the fridge or is it better the same day?

    1. Lilie bakery

Hello Marion, ideally, you should make the icing the same day, it's better, but you can also do it the day before. You will take them out of the fridge a few minutes before serving. See you soon.

  25. Hello,

I followed your recipe to the letter and yet my oreos rose during cooking :(
I do not understand why !!

    1. Lilie bakery

Hello Priscillia, for the Oreos, I don't understand why they rise in fact, maybe you should add a touch of Nutella in the bottom of the cases, to weigh them down a little? It hasn't happened to me so I'm racking my brains... See you soon

  26. Yum!! Me who loves Oreos... I sit in my kitchen and make them right away! :3

  27. Hello, just a quick question, do you put the oven on traditional or convection heat?

    1. Lilie bakery

Hello Orianne, always traditional heat in pastry. @ soon

  28. Same, the oreos rose to the surface and yet I added a thin layer of spread to the bottom so they would stick. I hope they will still be good.

  29. Cupcakes requested by my daughter for her birthday, very successful and very tasty (a killer in fact !!! ;-)). Thank you!

  30. I just tested the recipe. The cupcakes were very good but the frosting recipe is not right. It was too liquid even after several hours in the refrigerator. I am very disappointed by the recipe which looked good.

    1. Lilie bakery

Hello first of all. Please note that this is an icing that I make often, the proportions given are correct. The problem must come from your whipped cream (either cream with too low a percentage of fat, or not cold enough, or not beaten enough)...

  31. CuckooOne

    I really like your recipe.
    I absolutely have to test.

  32. Just perfect recipe a real treat

  33. I just tested it: delicious!!! The icing: to die for, so light. The chocolate cake is also very light, this little cupcake goes down all by itself... On the other hand, same thing for me, just one Oreo and it rises. And for my oven, only 12 minutes of cooking.

  34. Hello! I tested with 100g of sugar + 50g of stevia to limit the damage on my figure and the result is not bad. The perfect topping (I also lightened it with icing sugar). Thank you for this excellent recipe, very pleasant to make and taste.

  35. Perfect try and adopt !!!!

  36. Wow, after researching THE oreo cupcake recipe that I will keep in my book, I chose yours!!
it was delicious all my guests licked their fingers!!! on the other hand I did not put olive oil and I had no problem =) and I had chosen without paying attention a light liquid cream, and NEVER take a light cream because it does not whip into whipped cream =( so mascarpone and icing sugar with a little bit of cream all the same so that it is not too firm and it worked =)
I think to put less sugar next time because 300Kcal the cupcakes I will have to find a solution to lighten because I think quickly to redo it =)
I just had a problem the oreo and reassembled and impossible to fix it at the bottom, suddenly the top of the cupcake was not very pretty, fortunately there was the ganache to hide it. a solution maybe?

But a delight I will take a look at your site and certainly save it in my favorites =) !!!

    1. Lilie bakery

Hello Melody, a dab of Nutella to fix the biscuit at the bottom, that's my solution, it works well. See you soon!

      1. thank you very much, i will test next time =) (very soon)

  37. Hello Esque baking soda is mandatory? Please respond quickly, thank you.

    1. Lilie bakery

Hello, it is better to use it yes otherwise the cupcakes will be less voluminous.

  38. Second time I make this recipe and I never get tired of it! A real killer that has the knack of pleasing everyone!!
On the other hand, I replace the cocoa powder with melted chocolate and it's really good :)

  39. Great recipe, can we replace liquid vanilla with vanilla extract and baking soda with yeast?

    1. Hello, yes it is possible, see you soon

  40. Hello,
I discovered your blog a short while ago!! and I LOVE IT!! I want to do everything!! lol but I will probably start with these great cupcakes!
    So I have some questions:
is baking soda mandatory? can I use 2cc meter of baking powder instead?
after baking the oreo in the cupcake are tender or crunchy?

    merciiii

    1. Lilie bakery

Hello, baking soda can be substituted with baking powder. For the Oreos, they remain a bit crunchy. @ soon

      1. Thank you so much! It's just AMAZING!!! Delicious! The cream is perfect!
I just put one Oreo instead of 2 for more softness...

Do you think we can use the cake recipe for a large pan?
because it is just perfect, super soft and very chocolatey, just how I like it! :)
I have a doubt, I'm afraid it will break...

        Thank you very much !!!

        1. Lilie bakery

Hello, yes it is completely adaptable in a large format version, the cooking will have to be adapted. See you soon

  41. once again, both in the making and in the tasting, it is flawless!!
    no worries with my oreos...
    thank you lilie!

  44. Hello Lily,

I tested the recipe - cake base - tonight. Result: the Oreos rose (even though I literally covered them with Nutella (one layer to stick them together, one layer above and one below)). They didn't really rise during cooking either... in short, I'm a little disappointed... I suppose the icing will manage to hide the imperfection but as for the height, I'm a little disappointed. Do you have any ideas or a solution?

    See you soon

    1. Lilie bakery

Hello, for the volume you have to try to increase the quantity of dough per case. For the Oreo that rises, maybe try to press on it in the middle of cooking? It's just a guess... See you soon

      1. Hello Lilie,
Thanks for the tip. The icing hid the problem very well (well, it didn't hold up very well given the heat/heaviness of the weather here in Belgium but the gourmands didn't notice a thing ;-)).
Next time I'll try pressing it halfway through baking. I wonder if this is a typical Oreo reflex; I often make Oreo fondant (also placed in the pan) and they also rise to the surface.

On the other hand, for the volume, if I increase the quantity of dough I am rather at 4/5ths (and not 2/3), or even at the limit of overflowing. I think I will rather opt for taller cases - or opt for a single Oreo in the mold.

In short, thank you again for your answer and for all these caaaanons recipes that you offer. The friends are over.

        See you soon,

  45. Hello,

This is to know please where to buy your cake stands

  47. I am really disgusted I followed the recipe to the letter already I do not have 12 cakes but triple and when leaving the kitchen there is only the oreo left covered with a little bit of dough and especially too much fat I am so disappointed this recipe absolutely does not work

  48. My pretty La Rochelle cakes

Recipe tried and not AT ALL approved, very disappointed with the result too dry, too much cocoa, 2 oreos is too much for a single cupcake, the oreos rise and yet I tried in several ways. 24 cupcakes in the trash

    1. Lilie bakery

Hello "Mes Jolis Gâteaux La Rochelle", too dry = overcooked in your oven, too much cocoa = everyone adapts according to their tastes, the same goes for sugar...

  49. Cupgreedy 13

    1. Lilie bakery

Hello, the standard size must be 5cm in diameter at the base of the box;)

  52. And it's 10 years after its publication that I finally tested this recipe and it was a huge success. Personally I didn't put 2 whole Oreos inside but 2 halves that I assembled with Nutella as indicated and no worries of Oreos that rise as I could read in several comments. otherwise recipe followed to the letter for the rest. I recommend and would surely do it again another time. thank you
