A seasonal recipe that is both crispy and tender: the Apple cinnamon crumble ! A real pleasure to prepare as it perfumes the kitchen so much. A base of melting apples and a crunchy crumble dough with oat flakes: a very tasty and relatively low-sugar dessert.
Crumble is my guilty pleasure and I bet you are too! So simple and quick to prepare (at the last minute it's perfect) and it's always a hit! In this recipe, we find the perfect marriage of apple and cinnamon. In short, an ultra comforting fruity dessert to share...
What you'll love about this crumble recipe
This is an easy and inexpensive recipe. Inside this apple cinnamon crumble, we fill up on seasonal fruits! In this recipe, the fruits are very melting after cooking you will see. The crumble dough is slightly crunchy thanks to the oat flakes added to the recipe.
The contrast between the softness of the apples and the crispiness of the crumble on top is pure delight... Can you imagine the delicious smell of cinnamon coming out of the oven? In short, a recipe to comfort and do yourself good.

Ingredients to plan for this apple cinnamon crumble
To give the apples this melting aspect and to prevent them from releasing their water during cooking, add a little flour and sugar. Choose apples that are not very sweet: Granny Smiths (green). I do not recommend other apples because in the end they would be too sweet... For the apple filling, also add a touch of lemon juice and of course cinnamon!
As for the crumble dough, you will need small oatmeal (I do not recommend large flakes for this recipe), classic flour, baking powder, salt, brown sugar, unsalted butter, and cinnamon.
Cinnamon is present in the apples and in the dough: it is not overpowering, you will see, the dose is balanced for the quantity of crumble as a whole.

How to make this apple cinnamon crumble?
We start by preparing the apple filling : they are peeled and diced. Then we add the flour, sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice. We put aside for the rest.
To prepare the crumble dough, mix all the ingredients together: small oat flakes, flour, brown sugar, yeast, salt, cinnamon, melted butter. All that's left to do is crumble this sandy mixture over the apples placed in the gratin dish. Simple and quick!
How to taste this apple crumble?
This apple cinnamon crumble is delicious warm after removing it from the oven. You can then serve it plain or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
This apple crumble can also be eaten cold: it is also very good! You can keep it at room temperature if eaten within 24 hours or place it in the refrigerator for about 4 days.

Hello,
Is it possible to follow the recipe with fresh peaches or apricots?
Thank you and have a nice day!
Hello Elodie, yes you can possibly replace the apples with peaches or apricots. You will make it with or without cinnamon depending on your preference. See you soon :)
I prepared this crumble yesterday, we ate it last night with friends; it had been a long time since I had made a crumble and well I did not regret it! great recipe, thank you :-)
Thank you very much Camille! It's true that a good crumble is always appreciated for dessert :) See you soon
As usual, a very well balanced recipe! I really liked the touch with the oat flakes, less sweet and more subtle in taste and I used rhubarb! I’m keeping it in my “favorites”! THANKS!
Thank you very much Evelyn! Oat flakes have become one of my must-haves in crumbles. Glad this recipe is now one of your favorites! See you soon :)
The taste is very good, cinnamon taste present, very soft apples, the dough is crispy but does not have the sandy texture so characteristic of crumbles.
For me you don't need 5 apples, maybe just 3 or 4 depending on the size, because I had to use a bigger mold than recommended!
Since the dish was large, I made sure there was dough everywhere, I succeeded but as a result I didn't have big balls (thin is best).
I always give the exact size of my molds so that readers know exactly what equipment to take. Too bad you didn't read the precision before starting the preparation... The quantity of dough is calculated according to the mold so if you take a larger mold = you should have increased your quantity of dough accordingly. You'll know next time :)
What a delicious and comforting recipe for these long winter days! Do you plan to publish a pear and chocolate version for those with a sweet tooth (I would be unable to adapt the quantities of pear, chocolate and brown sugar without your wise advice)?
Hello Raphaëlle, that's a great idea for next fall! See you soon :)
Exceptional!! Super easy to make! Perfect instructions and quantities! A treat, not at all sickening, a real treat, the tangy side but not too much, a hint of sugar and cinnamon just enough to savor the crunchy-melty pastry! To be made again!
Thank you very much Helena, see you soon :)
