Soft to perfection, these Oatmeal and chocolate cookies are a healthy option for a snack! A quick recipe to prepare, with simple ingredients. We love their little vanilla taste and their big chocolate chips...
What you'll love about these oatmeal chocolate chip cookies
- flavors : chocolate chip cookies just the way we like them, with a little extra oatmeal flavor.
- texture : they stay soft thanks to the oat flakes and brown sugar.
- difficulty level : very simple to prepare (children will love them). You just need to allow 1 hour of refrigeration before putting these oatmeal and chocolate cookies in the oven, this is necessary for a good final texture.

Ingredient details
- oatmeal : for these cookies I only use whole flakes (which can be gluten free or gluten free). This adds more texture to the cookies than chopped flakes.
- sugars : I mix white powdered sugar for a light crispiness and brown sugar for softness. These cookies are relatively low in sugar.
- dark chocolate chips : I take big chocolate chips, you can find them quite easily in the supermarket pastry department. You can also chop your own pastry chocolate into a bar.
How to make oatmeal chocolate chip cookies?
- Beat the butter and sugars together then add the egg and vanilla.
- Separately, mix the dry ingredients and add them to the dough.
- We finish with oatmeal and chocolate chips.
- Refrigerate to easily shape the oatmeal and chocolate cookie balls.
- We place on a baking sheet, spacing well and bake (2 batches are necessary for the 16 cookies).

My tips for making successful oatmeal cookies
- take ingredients at room temperature : it is very important to have well softened butter and an egg that is not cold to ensure an optimal texture.
- do not overcook : we would tend to want to extend the cooking time but this is a mistake because they also continue to cook on the plate outside the oven.
- to have round cookies : take a mini pastry ring, place it above the cookie and make circles, this will firm up its sides and give it a nice shape.
How to properly store your cookies?
Once made, I advise you to place your oatmeal and chocolate cookies in an airtight box so that they keep their softness. This way, they keep about 4-5 days at room temperature.

If you make these oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, please rate the recipe below and tag @liliebakery on Instagram so I can see your beautiful cookies!

- 115 g softened butter
- 65 g light brown sugar
- 80 g white powdered sugar
- 1 large egg at room temperature
- 2 cc natural vanilla extract
- 125 g all-purpose flour
- 125 g whole oat flakes
- 0,5 cc baking soda
- 0,5 cc salt
- 120 g large dark chocolate chips
- In a container, beat the soft butter, the brown sugar and the white powdered sugar. The mixture should be very creamy. Add egg and vanilla. Beat again.
- Separately, mix the flour, baking soda and salt. Fold into the batter with a spatula, being careful not to over mix (just enough).
- Finish by adding the oat flakes and large chocolate chips (keep 20g of chips for decoration).
- Cover the container and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 180° traditional heat. Using an ice cream scoop or your hands, form balls of cookie dough then place them on the baking sheet covered with parchment paper, spacing them well (you will need to make 2 batches of 8 cookies)
- Crush the balls of dough a little then add a few more nuggets on top.
- Bake for about 12 minutes (depending on your oven). The edges should be lightly browned, the center not overcooked. Leave to cool on a plate, they will harden as they cool, while remaining soft in the middle.
- Tip: when they come out of the oven, if your cookies do not have a very round shape, take a mini pastry circle, place it above the cookie and make circles, this will firm up its sides and give it a nice round shape. .

They are too good! Lighter than the recipe I usually make. They made 2 days :)

Thank you Emma! See you soon :)
These cookies are super good and keep very well, thank you for this recipe!
Thank you Louise for your feedback! Glad you like these cookies :) See you soon
I used honey instead of sugar and gingerbread spices instead of vanilla, it was very good, they didn't last very long. Thanks for the recipe.
Thank you very much for your feedback Nathalie! You personalized them, it's great! See you soon :)
Good evening. Could we please halve the amount of sugar or omit the white sugar altogether and use only 65g of brown sugar?
Hi Nour, be careful not to reduce the sugar too much, it affects the texture. The white sugar is what gives it its crispy exterior. I don't recommend changing my recipe. See you soon :)
Thank you for this recipe !
Super easy cookies to make and SO good.
Thanks for your feedback Sonia!
Excellent recipe. We feasted
Thanks Gwen! See you soon :)
A recipe that was a hit with everyone; we made it without baking soda, but it didn't detract from its perfect taste or texture at all!!!
Thanks Elise! See you soon :)
Hello, I just made this wonderful recipe.
To be honest I never allowed myself to make cookies, if I ate them I bought them. And to be honest, it wasn't really my thing.
But this recipe… it is to die for. These are the best cookies I have eaten in my entire life. And you even reconciled me with them.
Thank you for these wonderful cookies!!!
Hello Louise, thank you very much for your feedback! I'm glad you like these cookies so much, it really warms my heart to read that! See you soon :)
Hello !
This recipe is magical, the best cookies I have ever made!
I also make them plain for my son who is not a big fan of chocolate and they are to die for! Thank you
Do you think we can modify the recipe to obtain salty cookies?
Thank you for your reply !
Thank you very much Marine for your message! I'm really glad you like them. To answer you, no, no salty version of this recipe, it would be too different because the sugar is what gives the cookies their softness, if you remove it, it will be very (too) dry and crumbly. See you soon :)
I followed your recipe, I used rice flour for the gluten-free version.
A real success.
Thank you for this recipe
Thank you Christine! See you soon :)
I made this recipe 1 week ago, so good and much better than the industrial ones. They were unanimously appreciated by young and old alike.
Thank you very much Celine! I'm really glad that your loved ones liked them. See you soon :)
I didn't have enough butter, so I added a big tablespoon of peanut butter for extra (and for taste too) and it works really really well! Thanks for the recipe, I'm traveling and they are the perfect snack for when you're going on a trek for a few days.
Thank you Antoine for your feedback! In fact, they keep well for several days. See you soon :)
I tried your recipe because my little girl loves oatmeal, ehh yes,.
The result was some really nice cookies, crispy as you want...so great that we can't say if they're good for 5 days.
We ate them the same day, and today I made them again for the third time.
Thank you, I will try your other recipes
Thank you Michèle! Glad you like them, see you soon :)

I'm salivating looking at all your cookie recipes, but I'm wondering if I can replace the sugar with stevia pastry for Mr's diabetes
thank you in advance
Hello Myrtille, to answer you, I don't know how special pastry stevia works. Maybe the dosages are not the same? In any case you need to do a test. See you soon :)
Hello,
I made the same recipe with birch sugar (for diabetics) a pure marvel (I just reduced the quantities, 40 white sugar and 40 cane sugar) and I divided the amount of butter and supplemented with peanut butter.

Hello,
I love making this recipe with my daughter!
Is it possible to freeze them?
Hello Margaux, yes you can freeze them for about a month. Once cooled, they should be placed in an airtight bag/box in the freezer.
I made these cookies in May for someone who isn't a big cake person. I was looking for a recipe with little sugar and that would make cookies that weren't too sweet but had a soft texture. The 16 were gone in a few days for 2. and he had eaten more than half of them :p. He just asked me to make some more with drooling lips full of desire. So a big success. Thank you
Oh that's great! Especially if the person is not a fan of baking in general, it's a very nice compliment :) See you soon
Thanks for the recipe, they are very good. The kids love them. I make them every week :) I still reduce the sugar, 80g is enough for me.
Hello Emna and thank you for your feedback! Glad you like them :) See you soon

Hello,
I would like to make some recipes that look so good but I can't find the quantities for the ingredients. Can you help me? Thank you very much!
Hello Anne, the recipe card is waiting for you at the bottom of the page, after my tips and tricks. See you soon :)
Just a quick note to thank you for this amazing cookie recipe! I followed the other reviews and only used 100g of sugar (which was plenty). For vegans, the cookies are also fabulous with 1 flax egg (or chia in my case) and margarine ;)
I tried it yesterday and it's delicious I've been looking for a cookie recipe different from the classics for a long time and this one is incredible. I especially wanted to get the kids to eat oatmeal, it's great and validated
Thank you Geraldine! See you soon :)

I tried it without being totally convinced, to use up oat flakes. It's a killer!!!
I went out to buy some more flakes to make some more because they were so good, my daughters loved them!
1000 thanks for this recipe which is one of my favorites (and thanks for the details on cooking, that plays a big part!)
Great! Thanks Perrine for your feedback. See you soon :)
I have to say I'm exceptionally surprised! I was looking for an oatmeal cookie recipe for my kids, and after seeing the comments, I gave it a try, although I was a little skeptical about the "incredible" aspect. I'm not personally a fan of oatmeal. Since I made the recipe for my kids, I reduced the sugar by half, and added a little more oatmeal. I followed the rest of the recipe exactly. I made small cookies, so I had almost 30. In 24 hours there are only 2 left (we are 2 adults and 2 children!), these cookies are truly incredibly good! So really, thank you for this recipe! Even my husband is asking for more!
Thank you very much, Célia! I'm glad you like them so much! See you soon :)
