For my first ice cream recipe I was original! (I am taking this opportunity to inaugurate the "ice creams & sorbets" category of the blog.).
Whether you like the Smurfs cartoon or not, you must definitely (as a self-respecting foodie) love Smurfs candy!
Well, today they are at the heart of my recipe...
Their sweet and tangy side is perfect in an "iced" version and this beautiful turquoise color, pretty isn't it?
The texture obtained is very creamy, and very similar to that of frozen yogurt.
Recipe for about 800ml of ice cream
- In a saucepan, heat 10cl of whole liquid cream. Melt 300g of Smurfs candies (1 packet) in it, until you obtain a very smooth blue cream. Set aside.
- In a bowl, mix 3 egg yolks (extra fresh, this is important because they will not be cooked) and 10g of caster sugar.
- Add 25cl of whole milk and mix again.
- Whip 25cl of whole liquid cream into whipped cream, and add this whipped cream to the previous mixture. Mix well. Pass through a sieve to remove any lumps.
- Pour the Smurfs blue cream into the ice cream mixture, mix well to even out the color.
- Turn on the ice cream maker, pour the mixture into the machine and let it churn for around 45 minutes.
- Then place in the freezer for several hours to optimize the texture.
Enjoy!
NB: The ice cream obtained will keep for up to 1 week in the freezer.

Yummy!
I really like the idea :D! I came across a store lost in the middle of a mountain road in the US that had flavors like this, and the ice creams were square!
Yum ! She is too beautiful this and she must be delightful!
Your ice cream intrigues me lol but it's superb!! Quick question: what does it taste like?

It tastes exactly like Smurfs candies, but in a creamy icy texture, very pleasant in summer.
The color is great. I'll have to try it (when I have a freezer :D)
Oh, a Smurf ice cream, that's very original!
Me who loves these little candies, I think I'll love this ice cream!

I love this idea! This ice cream really makes you want some.

I tasted it in La Rochelle, it's so good.! How to do it without an ice cream maker?
It looks terrible!
oh oh but that's excellent!:) yummy!
rhooo, I never dared to taste it, the color always scares me a little, but come on, let's be crazy, I'll try this weekend!

Great recipe, pretty photos, it's original!
There I say bravo, it’s just perfect!!!
I love the look. Great!
If I make your recipe, I'll become the ice cream star of the house... But my children will ask me for more every day, that's the problem! :)
In any case, a very delicious idea, that's for sure.
Nathalie
With the quantity of this recipe, you will be able to rest for several days :-)
OMG how I really want to try this one. I recently bought an ice cream maker and made some nice creamy vanilla ice cream, but I have to admit that the Smurf one makes me want it more than anything :D
Great idea !!
Kisses!
M.
Don't hesitate to try it, this one will also be very creamy!
Hummmm... this ice cream is very nice!!!

Great recipe! and very nice blog :)
Truly original. I who adore these candies, I will not resist long to discover this particular flavor.
It makes you want to be 5 years old. Excellent idea for a birthday snack! Thanks for the recipe
I'm trying today :)
I followed another ice cream recipe with this candy, and it was necessary to let the preparation rest overnight, and as I was too impatient I took it out a few hours before, and the preparation had gelled, and since then I dare not make it again for fear of failing because it was great but on the other hand the texture was completely disgusting... So I would like to know if the preparation gels?
Hello, I do not advise you to let the mixture stand before putting it in your ice cream maker because, indeed, the gelatin in the candies will solidify the mixture. Good recipe then!
Hello,
I just stumbled upon your recipe by chance and it looks really nice =) my darling loves Smurf ice cream and he would surely be happy to taste some homemade! =)
The only problem is that I don't have an ice cream maker =S does that change much? Is there a way to make it without one?
Hello,
I really want to make this recipe. However I wonder how long to let the mixture cool before pouring it into the ice cream maker. Because as said before, there is a risk that it will gel. Thank you :)
Hello, to prevent the Smurf mixture from gelling, do not refrigerate it, just let it cool before continuing with the rest of the recipe (before adding it to the creamy mixture). See you soon!
Hello, I ate this ice cream in Biarritz and I found it delicious! But in the north it doesn't exist!
so I tried your recipe with the same dosage, but it didn't work, it looks like you're missing milk
If you can enlighten me on this, thank you ;)
Hello Thomas, the quantities of milk and liquid cream indicated are correct, I cannot help you unfortunately... See you soon.
Hello,
I'm the only one who didn't get a response from you, it's disappointing...
this is what I sent you:
"Hello,
I just stumbled across your recipe a bit by chance and it looks really nice =) my darling loves smurf ice cream and it would surely make him happy to taste a house! =)
The only problem is that I don't have an ice cream maker =S does that make much difference? Is there a way to make it without one?"
Hello Fanny, I thought I had answered you, sorry!
You can do it without an ice cream maker, the difference is that you will get a less creamy, more solid ice cream, because it will not have cooled down while being beaten, as the ice cream maker does. See you soon!
tested and approved!
Hello, can we make it without an ice cream maker?
Hello, I have never tried to make it without an ice cream maker, should I try? See you soon
I don't understand, in the ice cream maker the gelatin (from Smurf candy) hardened the ice cream which gave a sort of unpleasant gelatinous mousse and yet I followed the recipe correctly......
Hello, maybe you left the melted Smurfs aside for too long, and they had time to harden again... See you soon
I would like to do it, but we must not melt the candy in the milk and the cream
Hello, as noted in my recipe, you have to melt the candies in the cream...

The result looks great, but I had a hard time melting the candies! I had to soften them in the microwave and put them in the blender! Where did I go wrong? Thanks in advance for my grandchildren!

Hello, quick question, my candy cream mix is not blue at all? What should I do?
Hello, you can add natural food coloring if you want. The problem is with your candy :)
Hello everyone !
I have just tested this recipe, the result is perfect and the volume is very interesting: the preparation barely fits in a box of 500g 1000ml ice cream!
My advice :
. melt the candies at the last moment, otherwise they will be too frozen to be well incorporated
. use a food processor for the whipped cream, then still using the whisk - low speed, add the egg-sugar-milk mixture and finish with the lukewarm melted candies, increasing the speed of the whisk.
. before pouring into the ice cream maker, mix well with a spatula
I turned it for 30 minutes in the ice cream maker (KitchenAid): the consistency was good.
I think they changed the colorings because the preparation is light in color, but the taste is there: regressive as desired!
Thank you for your return :) They had to change the dyes since you are right.
Hello, I have just made this ice cream however my mixture does not turn blue at all! In the pan my mixture is rather pale pink and then when mixed with the rest it has more of a cream color so you can't guess at all that it's smurf ice cream! Any idea where this could come from?
When it comes out of my ice cream maker the texture is in fact half soft and half gelled so I'm afraid that after freezing the texture won't be great but we'll see! Taste-wise, I'm not a fan personally, it's very sweet, it just tastes like candy, but after all, everyone has their own taste!
Hello Anna, to answer you, it depends on the colorings contained in the candies. Since I made this recipe (many years ago) the ingredients of the candies must have changed, which explains the different color. You would have to add blue coloring to get this color today. I do not recommend it, since it has no taste benefit. It is a candy ice cream, so it is normal that it is sweet. I recommend other "healthier" ice cream recipes in this section: https://liliebakery.fr/category/glaces-sorbets/
