Ready quickly, with few ingredients, we love them ...

These Twix chocolate caramel bars are delicious as can be! A quick and easy recipe to prepare with only 6 ingredients. They consist of a crunchy base biscuit, sprinkled with small caramels with salted butter and topped with a thin layer of milk chocolate.

A delight that is not without reminders the taste of Twix (in a homemade version, so even better...). To make this recipe, you won't need any special utensils. Just plan to have a square mold to place the mixture in.

The necessary ingredients for these chocolate caramel Twix

Chocolate biscuits : I used biscuits that you find in the breakfast section, but you can definitely use other biscuits of this type (slightly cocoa-flavored).

Caramel mousse with salted butter : in this recipe they are chopped to incorporate them into the preparation.

Unsalted butter : it will allow a good hold of the preparation while cooling.

Sweetened condensed milk : you can use the classic or lactose-free version as it now exists. It is used to provide a binder to this recipe.

Milk chocolate : opt for pastry milk chocolate. It is used to make the top layer.

Oil : it doesn't take much, it is used to thin the chocolate for a very smooth finish.

How to make this Twix recipe?

We start by preparing the base layer. To do this, mix some of the biscuits and chop the other part. This keeps a bit of crunch.

On the other hand, we also chop the Soft Caramel with salted butter. We don't want them to be too big so that they blend well with the preparation. Then we mix these ingredients, heating up with the sweetened condensed milk and the butter. Pack the mixture into the bottom of a square mold lined with baking paper.

Finally, we melt the milk chocolate, add the oil and smooth everything over the previous mixture in the mold. After refrigeration, your homemade Twix bars are ready to be cut!

Ready quickly, with few ingredients, we love them ...
Amount : 1 dozen

Prepare in advance 20 minutes
Cook time 5 minutes
Total 25 minutes

Ingredients
  • 400 g chocolate cookies type breakfast cookies
  • 240 g soft salted butter caramels
  • 60 g soft butter
  • 150 g sweetened condensed milk
  • 340 g milk chocolate
  • 2,5 cc of oil
Prepare in advance
  • Start by preparing the mold (24x24cm) by lining it with sheets of baking paper (this prevents the preparation from sticking to the walls).
  • Finely mix half of the chocolate cookies (like breakfast cookies) and roughly chop the other half.
  • Cut the soft salted butter caramels into small pieces, then set aside.
  • Separately, heat the soft butter and the sweetened condensed milk over low heat in a saucepan. Mix well.
  • In a bowl, combine the chopped and mixed cookies, the soft caramels, then the melted butter-condensed milk mixture. Mix to moisten everything. Pour everything into the mold, packing well using the bottom of a glass. Then refrigerate.
  • Prepare the topping by melting the milk chocolate in the microwave. Add the oil to the melted chocolate, mix well and pour over the biscuit base. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Take out the mold 15 minutes before tasting (cutting will be easier ...)
Notes
Store for a few days in an airtight container.

Hello Sandrine, I bought a bag of (soft) salted butter caramels from a small artisanal factory, but I think you can find similar ones almost everywhere (well, here in Brittany, you can find them everywhere!).

On the other hand, I admit that cutting the caramel into small pieces is very tedious, if you have any tips I'm interested for the next time I make some.
